IIM Shillong inaugurates 6-month “Business Management Programme” for Defence Officers

Shillong, August 6, 2022(MMP):The 6-month “Business Management Programme” for Defence Officers curated by IIM Shillong was inaugurated by Air Marshal Dilip Kumar Patnaik. The course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of management.Air Marshal Dilip Kumar Patnaik, in his inaugural speech, mentioned how the “fauj” is different from the corporate world in every aspect and IIM Shillong will help them learn new skills.Addressing the officials at the inauguration, Director of IIM Shillong Prof. D. P. Goyal Prof DP Goyal, Director, IIM Shillong explained how the programme is appealing to defence officers. “This programme will build on the skills defence officials already possess as a result of their years of excellent service to the nation, allowing them to utilize the classroom activities and interact with peers to further enhance their skills. It offers an opportunity to update and refresh one’s skills using the newest, quickly developing technologies. It is a specialized curriculum designed to equip defence commanders with the skills, knowledge, and understanding needed for a seamless transfer into the business world.”

 Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui releases the Silver Jubilee Souvenir of Thomas Jones Synod College

Shillong, August 6, 2022(MMP):Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed deep appreciation to Thomas Jones Synod College for imparting quality education for the past 25 years to the people of Jowai town and its adjoin areas at the  closing ceremony of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the college at Jowai.

Meghalaya Chief Minister also inaugurated the Science Block and Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui released the Silver Jubilee Souvenir of the college. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister, while expressing deep appreciation to the Governing Body said that the Science Block would be beneficial not only to the students of the college, but also for other students of the entire West Jaintia Hills District. The Chief Minister said the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance Government is trying its best to improve educational infrastructure in the state for facilitate better learning for students. He also said the Government would soon announce the second list of People’s College, where Thomas Jones Synod College would be included. The Chief Minister also said that the Government for the last four years has also focused on the development of the youths.

The glittering function was attended by MLA of Jowai-Wailadmiki Shylla, education Ministe-Lahkmen Rymbui, Principal-Dr. D.G. Lyngdoh Principal,   Moderator, KJP Synod Mihngi Cum Chairman Governing Body of TJS College -Rev G.S. Lytan, , Chief Executive Member of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council-Thombor Shiwait, Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District- B. Marak,  Pastor, MDCs and others. The programme held at the premises of the college was presided by Convener Silver Jubilee Celebration- W.E.H. Lamin. The college commenced on August 5, 1997, after the permission was granted by Additional Director of Public Instruction Meghalaya Shillong to start the college at Jowai and formally inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Salseng C. Marfak at a function held at District Library, Jowai.

 Shillong, August 6, 2022(MMP): Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has said that the emergence of Monkeypox cases in the country is a cause for concern and added that the state is still maintaining Covid-19 protocols and screening and vaccination of persons are continuing. He also said that the health system is in an alert mode in every respect. Further, he stated that the health machinery are on alert mode with the Monkeypox issue and the State Government will take necessary steps to examine it.

 Delegates from across India gather at UTSM in meghalaya

Shillong, August 6, 2022(MMP):A number of delegates and participants from 15 countries across the globe have gathered at USTM to join this two-day long Conference which has altogether 25 sessions. About 200 Research papers will be presented both in offline and online mode by scholars from India and abroad.

 Inaugurating the conference, Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Metbah Lyngdoh said that attention to underprivileged rural students, free education and the Payback policy are steps taken by USTM which are really appreciable. He pointed out that the Science and technology are the need of the hour for economic growth and that the conference will open new doors for research in emerging interdisciplinary areas.

Former UDP leader Malcolm Tariang joined the National People’s Party

Shillong, August 6, 2022(MMP):Former UDP leader Malcolm Tariang, along with Congress members of East Shillong, has joined the National People’s Party (NPP) during a programme at Shillong. NPP national president Conrad Sangma said that Tariang’s entry is a big boost for the party image. NPP national vice president Prestone Tynsong, on the other hand, said that the party will surely win the East Shillong constituency in 2023 Assembly elections. Tariang, on the other hand, informed that he will not contest from East Shillong but will fully support the NPP candidate.
