Shillong, June 17, 2022(MMP):The incessant rainfall causing flooding and landslides on several parts of the state and leading to loss of five lives including four minors. the incident at Laitlarem, Nongspung Circle under Mawphlang C&RD Block a house collapsed and leading to the death of four person,including two minor boys, aged 9 and 6, and two minor girls, aged 8 and 4,” the East Khasi Hills district administration in Meghalaya informed. The four children killed in a landslide at Nongsoung Laitlarem village under Mawphlang Community and Rural Development Block in East Khasi Hills. Expressing concerned over the incident, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the deceased.Meanwhile photos and videos of a car underneath a truck landslides on NH-6 blocking the arterial highway and there was no report of any casualty many of passengers have been stranded on the highway,The district administration in collaboration with East Jaintia Hills Police has been providing food, water and other necessities to the stranded passengers.
