Joint Action Committee Ki Khun Ki Hajar Ka Hima Sohiong demands removal of Bashemphang Thabah from Lyngdohship

Shillong, January 12, 2022 (MMP): The people of Hima Sohiong in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya today threatened to agitate against the Khasi Hills Autonomous District if it does not remove Bashemphang Thabah from the post of Lyngdohship within ten days. The leaders of Joint Action Committee Ki Khun Ki Hajar Ka Hima Sohiong met the Chief Executive Committee jong ka Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, T. Chyne and reiterated their demand that they had placed before the Council on the September 17, 2019 that Thabah should be removed from the coveted post of Lyngdohship due to misuse of fund and other administrative managements.

        Speaking to the media, the Chairman of the Joint Action Committee Ki Khun Ki Hajar of Hima Sohiong, Purningstar Shabong said the people of Hima Sohiong have strongly criticized Thabah for handing over the Nongwah-Mawtamur area of Hima Sohiong to Hima Jirang without consulting the Dorbar (Village Council). He also said that this area was later encroached by Assam. Shabong also regretted the statement of Executive Member of KHADC, who informed them that he, would not be in a position to remove Bashemphang Thabah from the post of  Lyngdohship was he was given the appointment by the Council.
