Shillong, January 5,2022 (MMP) : Meghalaya Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War informed media today that the state has only one active Omicron case out of the four cases confirmed yesterday. Dr. War said the three Omicron infected person are recovering fast. The DHS said that there is no need to panic as the three from the four have recovered while the remaining one is stable without symptoms and under isolation.
On the Assam tourist detected positive of Omicron variant, the DHS informed that the person had returned back the same day on reaching halfway from Shillong. He said that the Assam counterpart has been informed about the same. The DHS informed that for all positive cases from December, 2021, genome sequencing was done and those coming from outside the country it was done on priority basis. He further informed that it normally takes 5-6 days and if done immediately it can be done in one day. Stating that there will be many variants of Covid, he said that what is of but utmost importance are the three principles like mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing. Appealing the public to adhere to the protocols, he said that if protocols are not followed it will only call for further strict restriction if the situation demands.
