Covid vaccination drive in the age group of 15-18 years begins in Meghalaya

Shillong January,3,2022: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today launched the COVID Vaccination drive for the age group of 15-18 years at Rynjah State Dispensary in Shillong. Speaking to media persons , he requested parents to get their wards vaccinated. He further informed that dedicated centers are being created in every Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs) for the vaccination drive. He added that the government is focusing on the age group of 15-18 years that makes  up more or less 2.6 lakhs population in the state of Meghalaya. A 17 years old who got vaccinated, Aroma Kharsyntiew encouraged fellow youngsters to get themselves vaccinated as it is safe.

 Meghalaya Government announces restrictions to take contain spread of Omicron variant of COVID-19

Shillong January,3,2022: Taking precautionary measures against the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today informed that the state government has decided to impose restrictions on gatherings. Addressing a press conference today, he said that there will be restrictions on private vehicles also and the Government will now implement the odd-even system. The restrictions will start from January 5. The CM also informed that curfew will be imposed at 10 pm in Shillong city while the respective Deputy Commissioners are being authorised to look into their respective districts. As for those entering the state of Meghalaya, the CM said a 72 hours COVID test should be done apart from double vaccination.

EMRI workers union to go for one week strike

Shillong January,3,2022: The Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union (MEMRIWU) will launch their one week strike starting from today’s midnight asserting that they are earning less salary and are also looking for job security. Speaking to reporters, the president of the union, Microlina Syiemlieh informed that services will be stopped from 12 midnight. The agitating union members said that the salaries of the EMRI workers is very less in comparison to the prices of essential commodities in the market.
