NPP candidate Pyniaid Sing Syiem emerges victorious in By-election to Mawryngkneng Assembly Constituency

Shillong, Novemeber 2, 2021(MMP): The candidate of National People’s Party, Pynniad Sing Syiem today emerged victorious in the By-election to the Mawryngkneng Assembly Constituency in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills District. Pyniaid Sing Syiem defeated his nearest rival and Congress candidate, Highlander Kharmalki by a margin of 1,816 votes. The victor, Pyniaid Sing Syiem polled 14,177 votes and Congress candidate polled 12,361 votes. An Independent candidate Norbert Marboh received 1,400 votes. An Independent candidate, Esron Marwein got 485 and another Independent candidate, Arbiangkam Kharsohmat got 214 votes. Pyniaid Sing Syiem is presently holding the coveted post of Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council. The Marryngkneng Assembly Constituency seat fell vacant following the demise of MLA David Nongrum in the past few months.
