Ka Sur Ki Nongmawlai burns effigies of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and ministers in Shillong

Shillong August 25,2021 (MMP) The residents of Mawlai under the banner “Ka Sur Ki Nongmawlai” today burnt the effigies of Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui and thee to top police of Meghalaya, J.Singh, the Superintendent of police, East Jaintia Hills, S. Bomania, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and Meghalaya Director General of Police, R. Chandranathan, as a mark of protest to the state Government’s inaction to suspend all those police personnel who were involved in the killing of surrendered HNLC C. Thangkhiew on the 13th of this month.

        The burning of effigies was held at Mawlai Petrol Pump junction amidst shouting of slogans, “Long Live Bah Che”, “We demand for our rights” and “We demand justice”.  Ka Synjuk Ki Nongmawlai during the meeting with Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma at the Main Secretariat in Shillong demanded that all those involved in the killing of Thangkhiew should be suspended within one week. While Conrad K. Sangma stuck to his point that the Magisterial Inquiry set up by the state Government should be allowed to probe all the aspects that led to the unfortunate Mawlai incident and to submit its report to the state Government within three month. The peaceful burning of effigies passed off peacefully, when the demand to accord punishment to the police personnel ended yesterday. MMP
