Shillong, July 23, 2021(MMP)Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today welcomed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on his arrival in Shillong today for preliminary discussion on the inter-state boundary between the two neighbouring states. Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today meet the state Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to resume the long-pending chief minister level talks to find solution to the vexed inter-state boundary disputes between the two states.
Meanwhile, Chief Ministers of all the Northeastern states are arriving in Shillong for the two-day conclave of North Eastern Council on July 24-25 which will be chaired by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He will inaugurate the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Mawlai Mawiong at around 3 pm and thereafter move to Umsawli in New Shillong Township where he will inaugurate the cryogenic oxygen plant and paediatric ward at the COVID Step Down Hospital.
East Khasi Deputy Commissioner announces bravery award
Shillong, July 23, 2021(MMP) The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed that the Indian Council for Child Welfare gives award for exemplary acts of bravery to children every year. The main criteria for the selection of candidates is the performance of a distinct and visible act of bravery in the face of an impending threat of injury or danger to life or an act of courage and daring against a social evil and crime. Meghalaya Government targets to fully implement Jal Jeevan Mission in the State by 2022
Shillong, July 23, 2021(MMP) Meghalaya PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has informed that a proposal to include urban areas under the Jal Jeevan Mission has been put forward to the Ministry of Jal Shakti. He stated that during his recent meeting with the Minister of Jal Shakti, the Union Minister has agreed and assured a positive outcome soon and it may be done by the Jal Shakti Ministry or by the Urban Development Ministry. The PHE Minister pointed out that even though the Central Government has kept 2024 as the deadline, Meghalaya has kept December 2022 as the target date to complete the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the State.
