Meghalaya Government extends lockdown in East Khasi Hills till 24th this month

Shillong, May 13,2021 (MMP): Meghalaya Government today decided to extend the lockdown in East Khasi Hills District till the 24th May. This decision was taken after the review meeting due to sudden surge of Covid-19 cases in the state. Speaking to the media, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said  the state recorded 591 fresh cases of COVID-19 today, while 228 patients recovered from the deadly virus. The state also reported 18 COVID-19 deaths with 16 from East Khasi Hills district and 1 each from East and West Jaintia Hills districts

 Young people face problem to register for vaccination

The social organization belonging to Ka Thma U Rangli today expressed concern over the inability of large number of young people who are willing to receive the Covid vaccination, as they are unable to register themselves for want of mobile phone and other electronic gadgets.

The president of Ka Thma U Rangli, Angela Rangad said the state Government should look into this aspect, as youth people belonging to economically weaker section of the society should not be deprive of this facility. She also said that Large number of the young people are unable to register themselves to avail the vaccination, as the digital system for registration has been crashing most of the time.  

Nongkseh under Containment Zone

Nongkseh area in Upper Shillong has been declared as Containment Zone for ten day from 7.00 p.m. today till 7.00 p.m on the 23rd of this month. This decision was taken by the Block Development Officer of Mylliem Block along with the traditional authorities of Nongkseh in the presence of a doctor, when they found that 39 people have infected after the random testing was undertaken in the area. Nongkseh area has been put under Containment Zone in order to contain the spread of Corona-virus. Speaking to the media, the Secretary of Nongkseh, Shotstar Nongsiej said the authorities have no other option, but to clam the area under Containment Zone, as so many have been infested in by virus. Shotstar Nongsiej also urged the residents of Nongkseh to cooperate with the authorities to contain the spread of the virus.

Apex Bank to remain closed upto May 15

           The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has order closure of Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd at Iawmusiang in Jowai Branch, as its staff has been found infected by Corona-virus. The Bank will remain closed till the 15th of this month. The District Administration has informed that all those people who have come to the bank should quarantine and also closely observe their health for the coming ten days. They also asked the public to strictly adhere to the Health protocols including strict adherence of social distance and wearing of masks.
