Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, R.M Kurbah imposed lockdown due to sharp rise of COVID-19 positive cases in the District

Shillong 29th March,2021 (MMP): Due to the sharp spike of COVID-19 positive cases in Ri Bhoi District, the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, R.M Kurbah had today imposed the total lockdown at Ri Bhoi District as to take preventive measures and to control the rise of positive cases in Ri Bhoi District.

            This total lockdown imposed by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District will came into effect from 1st May up to 10th May, 2021 and it will came into force in the entire jurisdiction of Ri Bhoi District.

            Speaking to this Reporter the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, R.M Kurbah said that due to the sharp rise of COVID-19 positive cases in the District, the lockdown was imposed with the intention to stop the community spread as it was very difficult to do the contract tracing because of the sharp rise of positive case everywhere in Ri Bhoi District.

            As the District head and also the deputy commissioner of RiBhoi, Kurbah appealed to all the local residents of Ri Bhoi to cooperate with the District administration during this lockdown and all the people are strictly prohibited to come out to the public place and this is being done in order to stop the sharp rise of the COVID-19 positive cases in the District.

            She further informed that as of now there are 163 COVID-19 positive cases as recorded by the office of the District Medical and Health Officer of Ri Bhoi District and there is possibilities of sharp rise if immediate prevention are not taking by the public, she added.
