Shillong, 5th March 2021 (MMP): The Governor’s of Meghalaya Satya Pal Malik today made the costumery address to the member of the Meghalaya Legislative assembly on the 1day of the Budget Session of the Meghalaya legislative assembly. The budget session will have a total of 11 working days comprising the government and private members business.
Before the commencement of the session Meghalaya Governor Satya pal Malik was accorded a warm welcome by the speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh and leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul M Sangma accompanied by senior legislators belonging to the ruling and opposition group.
The budget session began at 10 am sharp when the speaker called the house to order to followed by the playing of the National Anthem. Addressing the House, the governor spoke at length on the various developmental Activities under taken by the different of the State Government. The Governor while dwelling on the prevailing Situation in the state he said that during 2020 the overall Law and order situation in the State. National days were observed in a befitting Manner despite the Govid 19 Pandemic and all socio cultural and religious Festival were celebrated with Traditional Fervour and gaiety.
After the Governor address, a group Photo of the Governor, the Speaker and all the members of the State Assembly was taken at the premises of the Assembly under sunny weather surrounded by streams and lush green pine trees.
The assembly reassembled at 1 pm in which, the remaining businesses of the House was taken up. The Meghalaya Speaker announce the report of the business advisory committee under rule 230 of the rules and conduct of business of the Meghalaya legislative assembly.

On the other hand, Meghalaya Deputy chief minister in charge of Parliamentary affaire in pursuance of Rule 244(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, informed that the house has been authorized to elect 1 member of the House to fill up the vacancy in the Committee on Estimated caused due to the demise of (L) Shri David Nongrum, member for the Remaining Period of the term of the Assembly.
The House paid obituary references to members of parliament, and state assembly who passed away when the Meghalaya Legislative assembly was not in session. Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma Condoled the Demise of Former Meghalaya Legislators such as (L) D N Joshi, Late Grosswell Mylliemngap, David Nongrum and Dr. Azad Zaman. Conrad also express deep condolences to the passing away of Former Assam chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
Joining the obituary reference, the Leader of Opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Dr. Mukul M Sangma eulogized the Contribution Made by these formers legislators towards the Development of the State. Shillong, 5th March 2021 (MMP): Meghalaya Power Minister today informs that the present Power Tarif has become very high and unviable to all the north eastern state. Speaking to the Media at the Side line of the Budget session of the Meghalaya assembly, James K Sangma said that he will take up this matter with the ministry of Power.
