Meghalaya Police in association with Cyber Peace Foundation launches Cyber Peace Awareness Month campaign

 Shillong, February 15, 2021 (MMP): Meghalaya Police, in association with Cyber Peace Foundation (CPF), an award-winning grass root NGO and think tank of cyber security and policy experts, today launched a Cyber Peace Awareness Month campaign. The campaign was designed to promote cyber safety awareness via online activities on the Meghalaya police social media handles such as webinars, cyber talks, Volunteer workshops, surveys, Brain Olympics, Jingle Competition and other activities.

        The survey will focus primarily on identifying threats that people are exposed to online and their understanding of internet usage and technology, thus assessing the awareness of the general population of Meghalaya on online safety and security.

       ”Launching the campaign, Smt. I Nongrang, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, Meghalaya, said, the police are keeping in mind that some basic components of cyber security rest on us, as individuals and also expressed happiness that Meghalaya police are on this mission to create an awareness of cyber security issues.

        The launch was followed by the first webinar in the series on the topic Cybercrime against Women and Children and Redressal, attended by teachers and students from various schools and colleges and the police officials in Meghalaya, where the speakers, Giri Prasad, IPS, SDPO, Sohra and Dr. Abhilasha Vyas, Consultant, Cyber Peace Foundation emphasized on how an aware audience can ensure to counter the attack shappening online by the cybercriminals and create a safe and resilient cyberspace.
