Shillong, January 11, 2121 (MMP): BSF Meghalaya Frontier continues with its anti-smuggling drive on the International Border with Bangladesh. Increasing trend of dry pea smuggling in the border led BSF on toe. In the intervening night of 10-11 this month, troops of 43 Bn BSF confiscated one Tata truck loaded with more than 13 Tons Dry pea in Rongra, South Garo Hills.
The total seizure made was worth more than INR 22 Lac although, driver managed to escape from the spot. In the past year BSF Meghalaya seized 400 Tons dry pea which could have potential to disturb the commodity market of any nation. The alert and vigil sentinels are on the alert to foil any attempts of border miscreants time to time. In view of increasing smuggling attempts BSF has intensified its vigil and operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to belie the expectations of trans- border criminals.MMP
