Shillong, September 8, 2020 (MMP): The issue of introducing the railway in Meghalaya has come up to the fore again after a deep slumber. The issue was raked up by the Meghalaya Unit of the BJP when it wanted to bring in the railway line upto Shillong. The idea of bringing in the railway line upto Shillong was rejected by the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA), a constituent of the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government in Meghalaya. Close on the heel of the proposal of bringing in upto Khanapara, the Hynniewtrep People’s Federation today vehemently opposed the idea of making connecting Meghalaya by railway.The HPF said the Government should adopt all the various mechanism to check influx before thinking of bringing the railway line in Meghalaya.
