Meghalaya Government constitutes Sub-committee of the Shillong All Faith Forum

 Shillong, September 7, 2020 (MMP): Meghalaya Government has constituted a Sub-committee of the Shillong All Faith Forum to look into reopening the places of worship from October first week and submit their recommendation within this week. This comes after the meeting of the leaders of all faith with the State Government at the State Secretariat in Shillong. Talking to newsmen, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that they have constituted a Sub- commiittee headed by the State Chief Secretary and involving members of the Shillong All Faith Forum to revisit the drafting of protocols and SOPs.

         Recalling two months back SOP have been modified on reopening of places of worship, the Deputy Chief Ministers said that they have however after the meeting decided to revisit the previous notification issued by the Government of India and the meeting of the Sub- committed will be held within this week.Stating that Covid -19 has spread to community but is still under control and the leader of the forum has expressed the same, Tynsong said hopefully the situation will improve and the places of worship can be opened in the first week of October.He also said that the guidelines of the MHA, a clause exists which mentions only 100 people are allowed, Tynsong said that that he thinks it is not reasonable as the state has huge places of worship where six feet social distance can easily be maintained. He added that allowing just 100 out of 1000 worships is as equivalent as not have the place sof worship open.MMP
