Shillong, July 2020 (MMP): Sherwood School of Tura tops the list in the MBOSE SSLC Examiniation-2020 result

Shillong, July 20,2020 (MMP): Unlike in the previous years, Meghalaya Board of School Education today declared the result of Higher School Leaving Certificate Examination-2020 its website due to Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s result was displaced in the different centres to avoid the possibility of crowding, which could lead to Covid-19 infection. Dark horse, Sherwood School of Tura secured the coveted First position. St. Thomas Higher Secondary School in Shillong, Little Flower School, Shillong, Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Mairang Presbyterian HS School, Mairang occupied the top five spots in the merit list. The sixth position was jointly bagged by Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Mairang, Risa Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Ramkrishna Mission Secondary School, Mylliem. The seventh position went to St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong. The eighth position was bagged by Nongstoin Public Secondary School, Nongstoin. The ninth position was jointly bagged by R.K. Mission Higher Secondary School, Cherrapunje and Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School, Sohkha. The tenth position was bagged by Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, williamnagarh.   

          Speaking to the media, Joint Director of MBOSE, Mcdonald Marbaniang informed that a total of 50,081 candidates appeared for the crucial examination, out of which 25,195 managed to clear it. He said that the pass percentage of regular candidate is 75 per cent and private is 25 the percent which has pulled down the percentage this year. Today’s result which was not urban centric saw the emergence of lesser known schools snatching the coveted positions. Today’s result in an indicator to show that quality education is also available in other parts of the state.    MMP
