Meghalaya Government announces reopening of restaurants, beauty parlours and saloon

Shillong, June 17, 2020 (MMP): Meghalaya Government today announced the reopening of restaurants, beauty parlours and saloons from June 22nd barring restaurants along the national highway. Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that the decision was taken in a review meeting and the health department is working out protocols and accordingly in few days time will issue the necessary protocols and SOPs.

        As far as hotels, guest houses are concerned, Tynsong said that the Deputy Commissioners have been directed to have a detailed consultation with stakeholders and submit a report following which the government will take a call.

       Allaying fears of those sceptical with the reopening of Iewduh, the Deputy Chief Minister said that out of 5,000 plus shops in Iewduh only 1222 more or less are allowed to open on rotational basis which will roughly come to 400 shops a day. He added that there is not much risk as rush will not take place. MMP
