Shillong, April 11, 2020 (MMP): Most of the States today requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend the lockdown for two more weeks. Government sources said, the Centre is considering the request made by the Chief Ministers including that of West Bengal during the Video Conference chaired by Modi. During the video conference, Modi said that it is very important to concentrate on the safety of the people as if there is a life, there is a world. He said, the fight against Coronavirus will be strengthened as long as every citizen of the country keeps fulfilling responsibilities and follow the instructions of the government and administration. Modi said, while talking about the lockdown, he had emphasized that to save the life of every citizen, lockdown and adherence to Social Distancing is very important. Most of the people understood this and fulfilled their responsibilities by confining themselves to their homes.
He said, we all had followed this mantra and made efforts to save the lives of other countrymen.NSD The MMP reporter adds that the Meghalaya Chief Minister has informed that ninety nine percent of the Chief Ministers across the country were of the opinion that the lockdown imposed by the Government of Indian should be extended with minor modification. The state’s Chief Minister disclosed this after a video conferencing between the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister-Amit Shah, high officials of the Government of India and Chief Ministers of the country. Earlier this week, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minster, Prestone Tynsong said that the Meghalaya Cabinet will take a final decision wheter to extend or to lift the lockdown in the coming days. He however, reiterated that the state Government will still continue to disallow inter-state movement of vehicles as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of contagious Corona-virus-19 in Meghalaya.
