Good Friday observed across the world to mark crucifixion of Jesus Christ

Shillong, April 10, 2020 (MMP): Good Friday was observed today across the world to mark crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Lord Christ devoted his life to serving others. In a tweet, Modi said, Lord Christ’s courage and righteousness stand out and so does his sense of justice. He said, today’ Good Friday is in remembrance Lord Christ and his commitment to truth, service and justice. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu said, today the people of India commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by observing Good Friday. He urged the citizens to remember the path of courage, sacrifice and compassion laid out by Jesus Christ. Good Friday is being observed by Christians all over the world to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Prayers and masses have been organised in the Churches and Chapels. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday and Black Friday.

          In Meghalaya, Good Friday was observed with devotion by Christians belonging to different denominations. Unlike in the previous years, church leaders made use of electronic media, such as, Youtube and local T.V. Channels in spreading the Good Friday messages due to lockdown imposed by the Government of India to contain the spread of Corona-virus. Christians also observed Good Friday  by holding prayer meetings in their own families as instructed by church leaders.MMP
