Section 144 Cr. PC imposed in East Jaintia Hills to prevent outbreak of Corona-virus

Shillong, March 20, 2020: In view of reported cases of COVID-19 (Corona Virus) in foreign countries and others states within India and for the purpose of prevention and control of the outbreak of virus in East Jaintia Hills District, and also keeping in view of the emerging scenario and safety of the general public and to avoid any outbreak of an epidemic, the District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has under section 144 Cr. PC suspend, restrict and close the activities of movement of public transport, shops, markets and establishment with effect from midnight of 20th March, 2020 to midnight 21st March, 2020 in East Jaintia Hills District, operation of Bars, licenses premises in the District with immediate effect till upto 31th March, 2020, any gathering such as social, cultural, political, academic, sports, seminar, all restaurants having in- dining facility, owners of saloons, Beauty parlour, grooming centers are directed to decontaminate and sanitize their premises frequently and regularly and ensure availability of hand sanitizer at entry gate, the public entry in Government offices only for essential services, assembly or gathering of five or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual households, overcrowding in eateries, operation of all Gyms, recreation centers,  clubs, public swimming pools. This order will come into force with immediate effect and until further orders.

            In another order under section 144 CrPC, the District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District has order to suspend and restrict movement of trucks loading with cement, limit the parking of the number of cement trucks at the parking space of each cement plant to the bare minimum keeping in view the space prescribed of 1 meter from each other, the use of Biometric system and assembly or gathering of five or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual households.

            Further, the order also state that they are to sanitize and instruct the hygienic protocol to all workers, employers, employer to frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water etc and to stop fresh arrival of employer or employees from other States till further orders. This order will come into force with immediate effect and until further orders.MMP
