Citizens Forum is of the opinion that Paul Lyngdoh should be the next Rajya Sabha member

Shillong March 6, 2020 (MMP): The Citizen Forum of the State has met together to decide the candidate for the current ensuing Rajya Sabha Election 2020 which will fall vacant by next month. As the Election Commission of India has notified that the election date will be held on the 26th March 2020. So as the Forum we have seen in the newspapers that the NPP have decided to field W. R. Kharlukhi as the Candidate but we have decided after consultations with the Political Parties of the State to field a Common Candidate, Paul Lyngdoh to be sent to the Rajya Sabha.

Paul Lyngdoh was a Former President of the Khasi Student Union (KSU), The First  Secretary General, North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), the founder of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), two times MLA of Jaiaw Constituency and one time MLA of newly delimitation of 18 West Shillong Constituency and now as the sitting MDC of Jaiaw Constituency. He is also the current Senior Working President of UDP. As the Forum who feels for the betterment of the society, the state must send him to represent the Rajya Sabha seat as he is the most stalwart leader, vocal with his intellectual specially at this moment where the state is facing lots of issues related to the Centre like CAA, ILP, NRC and many others issues related to the state. So, it is the need of the hour as a state to send Paul Lyngdoh as the member of Rajya Sabha who has got lots of experience and knowledge about the State – Centre relationship in political subjects .

As the Forum we appeal to all the electoral college of political parties in the state to elect him as the new Rajya Sabha Member so that we can have the right person at the right place and at the right time. As a Forum we wish all the MLAs of different political parties to kindly think for the development of the state as a whole with Paul Lyngdoh to be the MP of Rajya Sabha. MMP
