Soil Health Card Scheme celebrates its 5th anniversary year

Shillong, February 17, 2020: The soil health card scheme celebrates its 5th anniversary this year. The scheme enables farmers to get their soils tested through the latest technology and scientific know how. The scheme has helped farmers improve soil health and produce crops at lower costs while improving productivity of soils in general. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, the scheme has benefitted more than 10 crore farmers so far. A study by National Productivity Council has found that the Soil Health Card scheme has resulted in a 10-20% increase in paddy production, 10-30% increase in pulse production and 25% reduction in cost of cotton, making it a true game changer in the agriculture sector.
