Meghalaya’s journalists condemn Meghalaya Home Minister James. K. Sangma arrogance

 

Shillong, January, January 7, 2020: The press of Meghalaya belonging to print and electronic media today strongly condemned the arrogance of Meghalaya Home Minister, James K. Sangma, while refusing to response to media’s queries. The journalists who met at Shillong Press Club said that they have nothing personal against the Home Minister, but against the minister’s attitude for not answering to journalists’ queries, after their patient waiting for nearly three hours. The journalists said they had gone to the Main Secretariat and they were told by the minister to wait for him because they needed numerous questions answer to be replied by the minister.

          When the minister came out of the meeting with the officials of his Department, the journalists started asking questions from the minister. In the process, it was seen that the minister refused to talk to the media followed by a brief verbal argument between the Chief Reporter of The Shillong Times, E.M. Jose and the Meghalaya Home Minister.

          The minister’s security guards came in between them to calm the situation. In this regard, the journalists would like condemn the minister’s attitude and are posing numerous questions, such as, to why there is  there is daily load shedding, alleged illegal coal transportation going on in the state under the police nose, rising trend of drugs, issues relating to Autonomous District Councils, crime status relating to Agnes Kharshiing’s attack in the coal belt in East Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya and harassment of local populace by Assam police along the Indo-Bangladesh border on Meghalaya sector. The meeting also decided that the minister to tender apology to the journalists and to reply to all these questions posed by them in the interest of the public. MMP
