Meghalaya Social Organisations protestors stage protest demonstration against CABA

Shillong, December 13, 2019 (MMP): Under the leadership of Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO), protestors from different parts of the State gathered around Raj Bhavan, Shillong voicing their anger against the Citizenship Amendment Act, demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit in Meghalaya and introduction of the Meghalaya Residence, Safety and Security Act.

       The protestors gathered at Motphran (Bara Bazaar) and marched towards the Governor’s residence where large number of Meghalaya Police personnel blocked the protestors from marching towards the campus of Raj Bhavan.

        The protestors who gathered in front of the Raj Bhavan gate, shouted slogans against the BJP led Government at the Centre for the Citizenship Amendment Bill Act, which they feel that it will be against the tribal communities of Meghalaya.

         Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills in view of the prevailing law and order situation has issued an order under Section 144 Cr. PC relaxing curfew in all the curfew bound localities of Shillong for 12 hours from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm today.

       The curfew is however promulgated again in areas of Lumdiengjri Police Station and Sadar Police Station from 10:00 pm today till further orders. MMP
