Fr. Edwin Kahit releases biography titled “Bah Remy Gius Phankon” written by Stacey Rozetta Nongbri


Shillong, August 12, 2019 (MMP): A biography titled “Bah Remy Gius Phankon”, written by his granddaughter, Stacey Rozetta Nongbri was released by the Parish Priest of  Pynursla Parish of the Catholic Church, Fr. Edwin Kahit   at a prayer meeting held at his residence in Demsieniong locality in Shillong . The biography reflects the life and contribution made by Bah Remy Gius Phankon for his ardent love to take the Khasi literature to greater heights.   

      Bah Remy is a prolific Khasi novelist and dramatist. He wrote the Khasi novel, “Dak Bangla”, which is being studied at the Master Degree (Arts) in the Khasi Department of North Eastern Hills University. Another book that he authored was the “Mynhynnin-Mynta-Lashai”, which has been included as one of the syllabi at Bachelor’s Degree (Arts). Remy’s historical play titled, “Ka Sngi Khatduh U Tirot Sing” (Last Day of U Tirot Sing) was translated to Bengali and Assamese languages for the benefit of students belonging to the two non-tribal communities. Bah Remy Phankon was also involved in writing the script for dubbing the Hollywood movie, “Jesus” in Khasi language produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), USA.  MMP
