Shillong,July 5th, 2019(MMP): Along with the rest of the Country Swachh Sundar Shauchalaya Day was observed at Nongstoin College todau by the office of the District Swachh Bharat Mission, Nongstoin where the Deputy Commissioner T. Lyngwa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. “Poverty should not be the reason to uncleanliness” said .T. Lyngwa, where he added that the Government has provided all means to achieve a clean India through various projects under the umbrella of Swachh Bharat Mission. It is the bounded duty of Government machineries in cooperation with the local bodies, NGOs, residents to make use of the facility available to achieve the target.
The SSS is a National flagship programme targeting to beautify toilets with an objective to encourage citizens of the country to do away with Open Defecation which is the cause of various diseases. In a month, the office of the SBM and PHE of West Khasi Hills District had painted 38812 toilets from 668 villages out of 46073 constructed toilets where 5 of them had been nominated for State Bharat Swachh Mission.

Singh Shekhawat on June 24th 2019 at Vighyan Bhavan Delhi, five Sarpanch (sordars), ten beneficiary, SBM staff Block Level, SLRM Volunteers, Media persons-Honest Wanniang of T7 news and DSBM staff were felicitated with shawl and a citation, as a mark of reorganization towards their contribution for SSS.
