Shillong, May 19, 2019 (MMP): The 158th Birth Anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated with a multi lingual cultural event at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong by the Red Oleanders, a society which promotes multilingual arts and culture in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relation and Asian Confluence, Shillong, which was supported by department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya.
The cultural programme was started by paying floral tribute to Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and also by lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya P.S. Thangkhiew, termed Rabindranath Tagore as the Shakeshpeare of India. And he further said that though there is a language barrier but music has no boundaries and said that though there are differences among us in the society but we must follow the path of Rabindranath Tagore’s where he tried to unite people by his writings. On the occasion, various cultural activities were presented by different cultural groups including dance and drama by the group of “Nrittya Shaily”, Sylhet, Bangladesh. MMP
