Meghalaya State Protection of Child Rights seeks POCSO Court to try cases against minors

 Shillong, May 17, 2019 (MMP):Meghalaya State Protection of Child Rights is now seeking for the creation of separate POCSO Court in Meghalaya, as the matrilineal state is facing with numerous cases of violence and sex abuse. It is heartening to note that there are around 644 pending POCSO cases in the state and only 16 have been convicted so far. Official sources informed that East Khasi Hills tops the list with 224 pending POCSO cases and disposal of cases and acquittal is at the bottom of the table in this district. MMP
