Shillong, May, 17, 2019 (MMP): Meghalaya legislator, Saleng A. Sangma who represents the Gambegre Assembly Constituency in West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya, today strongly refuted the news item published in the vernacular Garo language newspapers relating to PMGSY Scheme under his constituency. In a press statement, Sangma the news item is related to the construction of the (1) 17th Km of Damalgre Mellim Boldamgre Road with a length of 5.25 Km and total cost of Rs.538.4 Lakh under Gambegre, (3) Adugri to Purakhasia with a length of 28 Km and total cost of Rs. 1672.96 Lakh under Gambegre and (4) Sasengpara to Kherapara with a length of 8.80 Km and total cost of Rs. 1138.88 Lakh under Dalu.
The MLA said these projects were proposed and sanctioned and tenders were called by PMGSY Department under PMGSY- II 2018-19, batch No: 1, 3 & 4 and termed the news item as an attempt by certain individuals to create misunderstanding amongst the general public without ascertaining the fact. “As stated above, it seems that people involved in repairing the road have been misled and unaware of the fact that the construction of the road shall be implemented soon, the MLA clarified.
