Three-term Meghalaya legislator and BJP candidate for Lok Sabha parliamentary seat  Sanbor Shullai asks electorate to vote for the BJP to solve the unsolved problems of the state.

Shillong, March 25, 2019 (MMP): Vote for the BJP. There is money with the BJP Government at the Centre. All your problems will be solved if BJP comes to power again”, said the tree-term Meghalaya legislator and BJP candidate for the Shillong Parliamentary seat. The election to the Tura and Shillong parliamentary seats in Meghalaya will be held during the first phase of the General Election on the 11th of next month. Speaking to the media after filing his nomination papers for the Shillong Parliamentary seat in Meghalaya, Shullai said all the political parties are pointing fingers at the BJP for their political mileage.

     

          “In the last Assembly election, all the seats were declared by noon and these same parties which criticized the BJP came to embrace the BJP at 2.00 p.m. for the formation of the state Government”, Shullai said, adding that they fully know that they cannot survive without the BJP. “The state Government was facing financial crunch and it was the BJP that came to its rescue and all the Government employees got their salaries. When asked what are the main problems being faced by Meghalaya, Shullai said the unemployment, the farmers’ problems, the boundary issue and the traffic congestion are the main problems faced by the people of Meghalaya. He said all the problems are yet to be solved because of the lack of money.

              “The BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is comeing back to power and schemes worth crores of rupees will flow from New Delhi to the Meghalaya”, Shullai said. When asked about the Centre’s Amendment Bills, Shullai said the CAB is no-longer an issue. “I had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister expressing people’s unwillingness to accept it and also to exempt its operation in Meghalaya, he said. When asked about the coal ban by National Green Tribunal, he said large number of miners and labourers have been economically hard hit. “We told the electorate of the Meghalya that if the BJP would come to power in the state, the state Government would ensure to the resumption of coal mining in the state. The verdict of the electorate then was that only me and Bah A.L. Hek were re-elected”, he added. Meanwhile, former Meghalaya Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mukul Sangma also filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate for the Tura Parliamentary seat in Meghalaya. For the Selsella By Election, June Eliena R. Marak, wife of former Meghalaya Minister Late Clement Marak, former Meghalaya Minister Sayeedullah Nongrum and Adarsha Sangma have filed their nominations.

             The Filing of nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections ended today. 91 constituencies spread over 20 states and union territories will go to polls in this phase on the 11th of April.  Among other constituencies going to polls in this phase are: eight in Uttar Pradesh; seven in Maharashtra, two each in Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and West Bengal.The scrutiny of nominations will take place tomorrow, while March 28 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. The counting of votes will be taken up on the 23rd of May after the completion of all phases of polling. MMP
