A nascent regional political party belonging to People’s Democratic Alliance (PDF) today inducted Melamshwa Rynjah to the party’s fold to contest the Nongkren seat of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council to be held early next year. Rynjah who has already started preparing himself for the coveted Nongkren Autonomous District Council seat, was formally inducted into party at a function organized by PDF Nongkren Constituency Zonal Committee held at Dorbal Hall, Iewpyrsing, Nongkren.
Speaking on the occasion, Melamshwa Rynjah said that he would like to bring new change in the Hynniewtrep community by creating awareness on its rich cultural heritage and be cautious in imitating the Western culture. Rynjah said many of the tourists who visit Meghalaya are impressed of its scenic beauty and they should also be made aware of the rich culture of the community. “We need development”, he said and added that skill development should be emphasized so that young people could easily get job. Rynjah said that he intends usher in skill development project, which will help even the farmers to use the available technology for improving their economy.
Speaking on the occasion, Meghalaya Agriculture Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh who won the Mawkynrew Assembly Constituency in 2017 from People’s Democratic Party (PDF) party informed the gathering that his party has been recognized as the “State Party” because PDF won four Assembly seats on the sixty-member state Assembly.
