Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma speaking at the function of world tourism day in Shillong.MMP Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma today said that Meghalaya should be able to display its art of promoting tourism to attract more tourists to the state. Sangma said this, when Meghalaya tourism along with Facebook today observed the World Tourism day at the State Convention Centre, Shillong with the theme Digitally Empowering Youth, Entrepreneurs and NGOs on Digital Skills.
Meghalaya Chief Minister attending the function as the chief guest said that tourism plays an important role in boosting the economy of the State. He said that tourism can transform the lives of people and the State Government will facilitate policies to boost tourism and create opportunities.
while talking about partnership with Facebook and Meghalaya tourism, he said that the tourism department needs specific marketing strategies. Packaging of tourism needs to be boosted and should also create ‘spending aveneues‘ for the tourists visiting the State.
The Chief Minister also said that the State Government will introduce a monthly programme called ‘Entrepreneur of the month’ where entrepreneurs will be given recognition and exposures and motivate others.
The function was also attended by the Meghalaya Tourism Minister Metbah Lyngdoh, Secretary of Tourism and other officials including Facebook India. MMP
